Friday Jet Fuel #2

By Anne 3 Comments

Friday Jetfuel 1

Welcome to the Friday Jet Fuel post on Money Propeller! Things are always happening in internet land and this is your chance to discover even more.

To ensure that you’re coming along for the ride with Money Propeller, sign up for our monthly newsletter, that features a recap of our highlights for the month.

Stop by Debt Free Guys to read my interview as part of their Money Masters series!

A Random Fact about Aviation

Anne’s friend did his master’s thesis on creating a bio aviation fuel using wood pellets. The technology is definitively not good enough, yet.

What We Talked About This Week

When was the last time you went for a picnic? Anne gave us a rundown on How to Pack a Picnic for Adults on Monday.

Michelle reminds us that You Will Retire One Day, You Might as Well Start Saving Now, on Wednesday.

Free photo editing was all the rage on Thursday, with a quick tutorial and explanation of how to add text to pictures for free, from Anne.

Carnivals and Mentions

Thank you so much to Counting My Pennies for hosting the Carnival of Financial Camaraderie and including our post Things to Ask a Potential Landlord.

DC at Young Adult Money included I Love Me Some Mini-Fridge in his weekly Quick Hits Roundup.

Jessica at Mo Money Mo Houses gave us a shout out on her Summer Hours Blog Love post.

Thanks everyone, we really, really appreciate it!

A Pretty Thing on Amazon

What good is money if we can’t do anything with it? Here’s something pretty that you could buy with your money.

Mason Jar Flower Frog

I am judging the crap out of this product for choosing to use carnations in the photograph, however, it’s a cute and super practical lid. When you put a few little flowers in a vase, like the ditch daisies that my spouse lovingly brings me (with a healthy dose of sarcasm over bringing me stuff found for free on the side of the road), they fall over to the side and look sad.  Not with this thing! They would also be great for doing wedding flowers.

Money Thought of the Week

Math is important. You can’t manage your finances without it. Understanding interest is one of the most important things you learn in high school math classes.

Your Turn: Linky Party!

What is a Linky Party? It’s a tool that lets you link up your posts, and check out other people’s posts.  Friday Jetfuel features a linky party that is open (accepting links) for one week, Friday to Friday, each week. Make sure to come back and link up each week!

Next week, we will feature one or two posts from this week’s linky. Ones that were wildly popular, ones that I found particularly interesting, or ones that came up with the roll of the dice! Maybe you can even bribe me to be featured, no one’s tried it, yet!

What flies for this linky?

You can link up anything that relates to money: earning more, observations about behaviour, saving money, spending money, developing your career, investments, frugal (or not so frugal) meals, giveaways, etc.  Make sure your image is PG13 and safe for work.

Please do not link to carnivals or link round up posts. It doesn’t matter how old the post is that you choose to link up.  Use  your best judgement, and I will use mine. I reserve the right to remove links for any reason.

If you do link up, please link back to us, so that more people can find the linky and discover all of the great information that is out there.

How to Link Up

Click on the “Click here to enter” below. It will ask you for a URL that goes directly to the post (http://moneypropeller.com/love-mini-fridge/ NOT http://moneypropeller.com), the title you want to use, an email address, and a photo. It gives you the option to select one of the pictures that is already on the post (and then crop it to 160×160), upload an image, or use a placeholder image. That’s it! All you really need to do is copy and paste your URL in, and type a few things.

Once you’ve entered, please visit a few of the other links and comment on some posts!

Just read your interview and it was nice to get to know you more! I actually have a math degree but the most important math course I took in terms of personal finance was a Math of Investment course in high school which was actually quite good when I think back on it. We did compound interest, PV, NPV, FV, amortization tables, FV using probability factors. I wonder if they even offer those courses in secondary school these days.

Ha! Both of my in-laws have math degrees, too, and all the kids in my spouse’s family are engineers. In BC, we had some of that stuff incorporated into our courses, but we didn’t have explicit courses like in ON. We just had Math 9, 10, 11, 12, etc. There were a few choices by the end (honours, regular, fundamentals, and an applied one that was geared toward the trades).
      Thanks for linking up!

The Bottom

You made it all the way to the bottom! Thanks so much for reading.
Did you know that The Bottom is the name of a town on the island of Saba, in the Caribbean? I went there on a trip once.
The other bottoms I think about are my own bottom, and the bottom of the champagne bottle. Often when I find the bottom of the champagne bottle, my own bottom grows. Funny, that.

Thanks for reading!
